I’m Shaylah Kiser, founder and CEO of Shaylah Burrill and Associates, LLC, doing business as Kiser’s Legal Support Solutions (SKLSS). With more than a decade of experience in court reporting, transcription, and legal support services, I provide dependable, accurate, and professional support in proceedings where the integrity of the record is essential.
My career began in 2004 with a mobile notary service and has grown into a full-service legal support operation serving attorneys, law firms, government agencies, and individuals navigating the legal system. Over the years, I have supported complex litigation, depositions, hearings, trials, administrative matters, and time-sensitive proceedings with one clear priority: protecting the accuracy of the record from start to finish.
That commitment is personal. There have been more late nights and intentionally sacrificed hours of sleep than I could reasonably count because a record needed another review, a transcript needed to be completed correctly, or a deadline simply could not wait. At the same time, I have worked intentionally to preserve the balance between the profession I have built and the family I am raising. It is not always easy, and I do not pretend that it is. But I believe responsibility means showing up fully for both. When someone entrusts SKLSS with a legal record, I understand that what may appear to be another transcript or proceeding can represent someone else’s case, livelihood, family, freedom, or future. That responsibility deserves more than convenience—it deserves care.
I have also spent time as a law student, which deepened my understanding of legal procedure, terminology, and the demands placed on legal professionals. I made the intentional decision to pause my formal legal studies to homeschool my young children, an investment that reflects my commitment to education, discipline, and lifelong learning. I plan to return to legal studies in the future because growth is not something I speak about lightly; it is something I live.
Beyond court reporting and legal support, I am also an author and have written several books and practical reference materials designed to educate, encourage, and equip others. My work includes legal terminology dictionaries and desk-reference guides created for court reporters, legal professionals, students, and self-represented litigants. These resources are designed to build clarity, consistency, and confidence because understanding the language of the law is often the first step toward navigating it effectively. For me, knowledge should not simply be accumulated; when it can help someone else move forward, it should be shared.
That same commitment to solving real problems led me to create VeriQal, a legal-record technology platform born from my own experience in court reporting and transcript production. What began as an in-house solution in 2024 has continued to evolve through real-world use at SKLSS. VeriQal uses computer-aided technology to support transcription, transcript production, record organization, workflow management, and other time-intensive aspects of working with the legal record while keeping professional judgment, review, and accountability where they belong—with the professional. Today, VeriQal continues to grow beyond the internal system that inspired it, with tools being developed for court reporters, transcription professionals, legal support teams, attorneys, and others who create, manage, review, or rely upon the legal record.
I am also an ordained minister and offer faith-based facilitative mediation for clients who specifically seek values-aligned conflict resolution. While separate from our court reporting and legal support services, this approach combines faith-based principles with recognized conflict-resolution practices to encourage communication, understanding, accountability, and, where possible, harmony between the parties. We also recognize that some disputes simply require resolution through the court system. Participation is always voluntary, and facilitation is not a substitute for legal advice or representation.
Whether working with seasoned legal professionals or individuals representing themselves, my approach remains the same: provide precise, respectful, and dependable support so clients can move forward with confidence. I have built my career around the belief that the person responsible for the record must understand the weight of that responsibility. At SKLSS, the record is never treated as routine. Kevin James Kiser is a skilled and dependable court reporter and legal support professional with years of experience protecting the record in high-level legal, governmental, and administrative proceedings.
Kevin began his court reporting career in 2016 under the training and mentorship of Shaylah Kiser. Since then, he has developed into a trusted professional known for accuracy, focus, discretion, reliability, and a calm command of the room. His experience has taught him that court reporting is not simply about capturing words—it is about understanding the responsibility that comes with preserving a record that may later affect decisions, rights, families, businesses, and futures.
A significant part of Kevin’s professional experience includes covering proceedings on Capitol Hill, including congressional hearings, RNC and DNC committee matters, and other formal governmental proceedings where neutrality, confidentiality, professionalism, and precision are essential. His experience also includes trials, hearings, depositions, and complex legal matters requiring careful attention to detail and an unwavering respect for the integrity of the record.

Kiser’s Legal Support Solutions (SKLSS) is more than a legal support company. We are a family-owned business built on trust, accuracy, innovation, and a deeply held belief that the integrity of the legal record matters.
Our story began in 2004, when Shaylah Kiser founded a mobile notary business with a simple but lasting commitment: serve people well, do the work with integrity, and never lose sight of the person behind the paperwork. What began as a small service grew alongside Shaylah’s experience, education, family, and vision for something much greater.
By 2012, our work expanded into court reporting and transcription. Over the years, SKLSS developed a reputation for professionalism, dependability, adaptability, and careful attention to the record. As the legal profession changed, we changed with it—embracing digital court reporting, remote proceedings, legal transcription, and technology-supported transcript production while preserving the professional judgment and human oversight that technology cannot replace.
From Using Technology to Building It
In 2024, another chapter of the SKLSS story began.
After years of working within the realities of court reporting and transcript production, Shaylah completed the first in-house version of VeriQal, a legal-record technology platform created not from theory, but from the challenges and needs she encountered while doing the work herself. That same year, VeriQal was put into active use within SKLSS, becoming part of the company’s day-to-day transcription, transcript-production, and workflow processes.
VeriQal was originally built to solve real problems inside SKLSS. It uses computer-aided technology to assist with portions of transcription, transcript production, record organization, and workflow management—helping streamline time-intensive tasks while keeping professional review, judgment, quality control, and accountability in human hands.
Years of real-world use have also allowed the technology to be tested, refined, and improved within an active legal support environment. Some specialized features and workflows used internally by SKLSS remain exclusive to our in-house system, while the public-facing VeriQal platform is being thoughtfully adapted, secured, and developed for broader professional use.
What began as an internal solution has grown into a much larger vision. VeriQal is now expanding beyond SKLSS with technology designed for court reporters, transcription professionals, legal support teams, attorneys, and others who create, manage, review, search, or rely upon the legal record.
We did not build technology and then look for a problem to solve. We built VeriQal because we lived the problem first.
Legal Support With Purpose
In 2023, SKLSS also expanded its broader support services to include facilitative faith-based mediation for clients who specifically request a values-aligned approach. Guided in part by Shaylah’s experience as an ordained minister, these services focus on communication, understanding, accountability, and, where possible, harmony and resolution, while recognizing that some disputes appropriately require the court process.
Today, SKLSS provides court reporting, legal transcription, transcript production, remote proceeding support, record-related services, and other professional legal support while remaining true to the values upon which the company was built.
